Meet Asha and Alec!

Alec and I met at college; neither of us had any idea of what God had in store for us. We became lab partners at Ave Maria University and have been married for one year. We’re expecting our first daughter any day now!

Do you have any religious traditions that you keep as a family?

Yes, we go to adoration together every night and ask our father St.Joseph to protect our family every day.

What role does your faith play in your family life?

God brought us together, and our faith is what unites our marriage. There are many enemies to marriage and the family, and so our faith is our shield.

What is your favorite devotion or prayer as a family? Why?

We are devoted to St.Joseph because fatherhood is so attacked in our society. He was closest to Mary (other than Jesus) and so he has a lot to teach us.

What was a moment, personally or within your family, that you felt Our Lady working in your life?

Coming from a secular worldview, I struggled with the idea of marriage. Mama Mary is who convinced me to marry Alec. I asked her to show me a sign at the end of a rosary we were praying together, and as soon as we said the Hail Holy Queen, a huge shooting star sped across the sky.

Share a moment when the Blessed Mother has helped you through a difficult time or a challenge you faced as a family…

Mama Mary is teaching Alec and I how to be parents. We have a lot to learn from her.

What would you want your children to take away from any particular devotion you have to the Blessed Mother? 

I want them to go to her for everything, and ask her for whatever is on their hearts.

If you could impart any wisdom to your children about the faith, what would it be?

Go to Jesus, he is your stronghold. The world is very dangerous and enemies want you for their own purposes. Mama Mary will protect you.

How has Mary been a mother to you?

She guided our marriage.

Is there anything else you’d like to share about how Our Lady has impacted your life?

She brought Alec and I to Ave Maria University, her namesake Catholic college.
