3 Prayers for Anxiety
We may often experience some form of fear and anxiety and may be left thinking that it’s only us going through the struggle. Sometimes we need many words of encouragement to get us through those feelings. Thanks to the experiences and inspirations of many saints, we have several prayers that help us to transform our anxieties into moments of uniting closer to God’s presence. Here are 3 prayers for anxiety and stress. We hope they give you some solace.
O Christ Jesus,
when all is darkness
and we feel our weakness and helplessness,
give us the sense of Your presence,
Your love, and Your strength.
Help us to have perfect trust
in Your protecting love
and strengthening power,
so that nothing may frighten or worry us,
for, living close to You,
we shall see Your hand,
Your purpose, Your will through all things.
~St. Ignatius of Loyola
Let nothing disturb you,
Let nothing frighten you,
All things are passing away:
God never changes.
Patience obtains all things.
Whoever has God lacks nothing;
God alone suffices.
~St. Teresa of Avila
Do not look forward in fear
to the changes in life;
rather, look to them with full hope
that as they arise,
God, Whose very own you are,
will lead you safely through all things;
and when you cannot stand it,
God will carry you in His arms.
Do not fear what may happen tomorrow;
the same understanding Father,
Who cares for you today,
will take care of you then and every day.
He will either shield you from suffering
or will give you
unfailing strength to bear it.
Be at peace, and put aside
all anxious thoughts and imaginations.
Amen.
~St. Francis de Sales
BONUS: St. Dymphna is the patron saint of anxiety.
